International Professional Placement
International Professional Placement is an annual exchange program hosted by New Khmer-Architecture and Sa Sa Art Projects with UNSW Built Environment as academic mentorship. The professional placement is an opportunity to develop skills in humanitarian, community-led, and design activism. A group of UNSW’s students joins with Cambodian students in Phnom Penh, researching, analyzing, and designing in responding to challenges of being in the city through bottom-up adaptations from grassroots communities. How are Phnom Penh citizens responding to the challenges of current unprecedented developments through creative, bottom-up adaptation in the built environment? What interventions would you propose as a design team who are active members of the city?
The placement opens for Cambodian and UNSW’s students from Architecture, Interior Architecture, Industrial Design, Landscape Architecture, Computational Design, City Analytics (MA), Sustainable Built Environment (MA), City Planning (MA) in their 3rd or 4th year or any stage of their Masters.
